Design and Build of Birara Bridge/Road in Rukungiri District.
About the Project:
Design and construction of a two span 32m long bridge and 10Km gravelroad to District Class 1 standard. The Bridge comprises deep foundations in fast flowing river on spread footing below water table. Stabilization of the excavations and deep compaction to foundations was done. Bridge substructures of up to 10m height for pier and abutment walls of reinforced concrete. Composite bridge deck of two lane highway designed to HA and 30 Units of HB loading, to BS 5400. The Road works comprised 10km of over 300,000m3 earth works in difficult mountaneous terrain.
